Dear Church family and guests:

Welcome! That you’re looking at our website tells me you might be interested in our church; who we are, what we believe, and more. In looking at this page perhaps you’re wondering what the Pastor and the church is like.

I have been the pastor of East Shore Baptist for about six years now. And forgive me if this sounds a bit self-serving, but I really love it here! Even having come here from Florida, I love this area; and this church is a great church. How so? I thought I would share some things about our church by answering some questions people have asked over the years.

  1. What kind of church are we? We are a Southern Baptist Church by affiliation. What this means in a nut-shell is that though we cooperate with and are part of a larger denomination, we are an independent church that truly believes in God’s Word, the Bible, as the sole source of faith and practice. We believe that the Bible is true truth; God’s revelation of Himself to man; and that there is no “truth” that conflicts with God’s Word. If you’re interested in finding out some additional information on Southern Baptists, you can check out www.sbc.net. On there you can also find the “Baptist Faith and Message”, which articulates the beliefs of Southern Baptists.

  2. What is the preaching like? Our preaching is Christ-centered and biblical. In John 8:32, Jesus said, “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” As a pastor I know that there are many things that compete with going to church on Sunday morning. If a church will not share a word from God, a word from the Bible, then what is the point of going to church? We truly and sincerely believe that the Bible is the main thing in our church. What’s more, we believe that God’s Word has much to say to us today, so we strive with every message to make it relevant and understandable. We also strive to teach the “whole counsel of God”. Sometimes we teach on tough but timely subjects (e.g. What God Has To Say About Divorce, from a verse-by-verse study of Christ’s “Sermon on the Mount” in Matt. 5-7). If you’re looking for a church that truly believes in something, that stands for truth and righteousness, that tells and teaches truth – but in love and with grace, then you might want to check us out. It’s just a thought, but if you’re not hearing true truth, then what good is it going to do you? You can also listen to past messages on our website.
