East Shore Baptist

Evangelism/Outreach

Reaching our community for Christ is a mission for East Shore Baptist.  Highlighted are two ministries that have provided both physical and spiritual needs of the workers at Penn National Racetrack and truck drivers at the truck stops off I-81 and Rt 39.

Truck Stop Ministry

As part of Trucker's Christian Chapel Ministries, Jerry and Barb Weaver lead services and outreach activities each Sunday morning at the TA Truck Stop along Route 39 and I-81 in Harrisburg.  This faith-based ministry relies fully on God's gracious provision, guidance and wisdom.  Join Jerry and Barb in this ministry opportunity and see God working in the lives of the truckers.

Race Track Ministry

Four times each year our Hostess Team cooks a hot dinner in our church kitchen and transports it to the Penn National Race Track. We generally feed between 30 and 50 people. The people we feed are the employees of the track and their families.

We also donate nonperishable food items to the track’s food pantry, which is run by the track Chaplain and his wife. We collect new or gently used toys for their day care center as well as blankets, clothing and some furniture items. There are single men and women who live at the track in very basic, very small rooms.

Our church has been involved with the Race Track Ministry since around 2003. It is a very heart-warming way to meet the needs of people right in our own backyard.
